I'm Megan Stott and I am running for Salem School Committee.

As a Salem Public Schools parent and experienced city leader, I see that our schools are on a positive trajectory and I want to help keep that momentum moving forward.

 

MEET MEGAN

 

 

• Strong supporter of Public Schools: Daughter of a Public School Teacher, Parent to a Collins Middle School Student, and a Graduate of Public Schools

• Degree in Communications from Salem State & 20+ year career in Financial Services & Technology

 

 

For three terms, I have served as a Salem City Councillor, navigating complex issues and working tirelessly for our community. With my third term ending at the end of 2025, I am looking to bring my proven leadership, collaboration, and dedication to the Salem School Committee

BACKGROUND

 

Born on the West Coast and raised on the East Coast, I have called Salem my home for over 25 years.  After graduation from Salem State and being a renter in the city for 8 years, a first-time home buyers assistance program led me to my home in North Salem.

 

I work as a Director of Sales Operations for a property information company. My daughter Stella was born in 2011 and currently attends Salem Public Schools. We live in North Salem.

 

I was first elected to City Council in 2019 and have and served on all council committees, including five years on the Adminstration and Finance Committee, and one year as chair of the Ordinanace, Licenses and Legal Affaris Committee where we took up many critical matters – I am proud of the enormous amount of work we were able to accomplish in just one year and the respectful and productive conversations that occurred in committee. I am hoping to bring this experience to School Committee. 

 

When I first ran for office in 2019 – just six years ago, though it feels like a lifetime – so much has changed, both globally and right here in Salem. Through it all, I’ve had the unique perspective of being both a Salem Public Schools parent and an elected official. I’ve remained committed to our schools and proud to be a vocal supporter. I understand the challenges and complexities from different vantage points, but the one that matters most to me is as a parent.

 

Salem Public Schools are on a positive trajectory, and I want to help keep that momentum going. At the same time, I know there are uncertainties ahead. Essential conversations and decisions lie in front of us, and I believe it’s critical to approach them with compassion, transparency, and community engagement – just as I’ve strived to do throughout my time on the Council.

Como madre de un miembro de las Escuelas Públicas de Salem y líder municipal con experiencia, veo que nuestras escuelas están en una trayectoria positiva y quiero ayudar a mantener ese impulso.

Firme defensora de las Escuelas Públicas: Hija de un maestro de escuela pública, madre de un estudiante de la Escuela Intermedia Collins y graduada de las Escuelas Públicas.

 

Licenciada en Comunicaciones por la Universidad Estatal de Salem y con más de 20 años de experiencia en Servicios Financieros y Tecnología.

 

Durante tres mandatos, me he desempeñado como concejala de la ciudad de Salem, abordando problemas complejos y trabajando incansablemente por nuestra comunidad. Con mi tercer mandato finalizando a finales de 2025, busco aportar mi liderazgo, colaboración y dedicación comprobados al Comité Escolar de Salem.

Miembro del Comité de Construcción de la Escuela Secundaria desde 2023.

 

Presidente del Ayuntamiento de Salem en 2023.

 

TRAYECTORIA

 

Nacido en la Costa Oeste y criado en la Costa Este, Salem es mi hogar desde hace más de 25 años. Después de graduarme de la Universidad Estatal de Salem y vivir como inquilino en la ciudad durante 8 años, un programa de asistencia para compradores de vivienda por primera vez me llevó a mi hogar en North Salem.

 

Trabajo como Director de Operaciones de Ventas para una empresa de información inmobiliaria. Mi hija Stella nació en 2011 y actualmente asiste a las Escuelas Públicas de Salem. Vivimos en North Salem.

 

Cuando me postulé por primera vez para un cargo en 2019 —hace apenas seis años, aunque parezca una eternidad—, mucho ha cambiado, tanto a nivel mundial como aquí en Salem. A lo largo de todo este tiempo, he tenido la perspectiva única de ser padre de un miembro de las Escuelas Públicas de Salem y funcionario electo. He mantenido mi compromiso con nuestras escuelas y me enorgullece ser un firme defensor de ellas. Entiendo los desafíos y las complejidades desde diferentes perspectivas, pero la que más me importa es la de madre.

 

Las Escuelas Públicas de Salem están en una trayectoria positiva y quiero ayudar a mantener ese impulso. Al mismo tiempo, sé que hay incertidumbres por delante. Tenemos por delante conversaciones y decisiones esenciales, y creo que es fundamental abordarlas con compasión, transparencia y compromiso comunitario, tal como me he esforzado por hacer durante mi tiempo en el Consejo.
